In view of the ongoing festive season and impeding court verdict on the Ram Janambhoomi issue, additional forces are being mobilized for Ayodhya. City has been put on high alert  and ten additional companies are being deployed.

A senior official said, “We will ensure surveillance of Durga Puja and Dushhera processions with drones and have requested the Puja committee not to use ‘gulal’ during processions. They can use flower petals instead.”

The district administration has started identifying possible accommodation for the additional forces. Local guests houses, dharamshalas, schools and colleges will be used to station the forces. Police and local intelligence have been directed to start checking the hotels, guest houses, dharamshalas, lodges and home stays and verify the credentials of people working and staying there.

The verification is done in the view of reported threat inputs by the intelligence agencies.

The ongoing Durga Puja and Dussehra celebrations will continue till Monday  while various Ram Lilas will take place through out the month of Diwali in the holy city.

‘Deepotsav’, a three-day programme, being organized by the state government on the eve of Diwali, is also expected to be a major crowd puller in the city.

In order to prevent the pollution of Saryu river, large pits are being dug on the outskirts of the city where the idol will be buried.

In the view of the Supreme Court’s verdict on the Ram Janambhoomi issue, expected in November, the local administration does not wish to take any chance with the security arrangements in the city.

The Chief justice of India, during the hearing of the Ayodhya dispute had asked both Hindu and Muslim parties to end all arguments in the Ayodhya title suit by 18 October so that the court gets at least four weeks to give a final verdict.
