Nineteen Indian students had an opportunity to get musical training from well-known Korean artistes under Global Young Artistes Project. Organised by Korean Cultural Centre India in association with Korea National University of Arts, South Korea, the purpose of the project was to promote music and cater to the needs of young Indian musicians. The project, which started on 22 January, witnessed huge participation by Indian students, of whom 19 got selected after a rigorous selection process.
“Music is a language, which can move people’s heart even if they are across oceans. With this project, the youth of both the countries are building a strong bond by developing a deep musical relationship,” said Kim Kum Pyoung, director, Korean Cultural Centre.
The students got piano training by Jeong Ahyun, Yun and Sarah, violin by Park Somang and vocal by Younsoo Calvin Jin and Han Seungyeon.

On the final day of training (2 February), the students and their mentors performed collectively at the Korean Cultural Centre.
“The students are talented and curious about learning. They are crazy for music and this will take them far in their work,” said Park Somang. Vocal Trainer YounSoo Calvin Jin said that for learning music one needs to fall in love with it. “I am a student of Delhi School of Music and have been learning music from the last 9 years. I have joined this programme to learn more on Violin,” said Monsin Jamal.
