After making a premiere at Marche du film of Festival de Cannes, Aneek Chaudhuri’s silent film on rape, White will be screened at Reaktor Indian Film Festival in Vienna, Austria in official category. The festival showcases art house feature length films from India from June 7-June 10 2018.

Aneek reacts by saying, “We are honored to let us screen our film in another European country just after the premiere at Cannes. I am honored to be selected among other great films.”

2018 is the year of Reaktor Indian Film Festival in Vienna organised by REAKTOR, which was founded to transfer authentic art to the audience. Audiences should look out for a creme quality of parallel themed stories curated by Vivek Singhania (festival coordinator and Mumbai based producer) along with the festival director, Bernhard Kammel (director, producer and REAKTOR’s director).

“Sexual assault victims in real terms do not depend on cheap sympathy as they carry the divine power and cosmic energy of their womanhood in themselves, untouchable even by rape.” Aneek explains.

When asked about what inspired him to make a film like White Aneek believes that his aim was to create a cinematic movement to shape modern times.

“White is an effort, but a rebellious voice too. Through this film, I aim to create a cinematic movement which will show the power of cinema to shape modern times. At the same time, I wanted to create something aesthetically beautiful,

Here, Silence has been used as a satire to reach the universal theme of rape. People are silent in order to ignore things that do not affect their own lives; however, White is silent, but holds conscience. Here silence is being used as a weapon” Aneek adds.

The festival will be opened with Talking of Michelangelo by Modhurima Sinha and Waiting by Anu Menon. White is expected to reach more people in Europe, the part of the world where film is equivalent to art.
