Punjab govt releases Rs 112 crore under Aashirwad scheme

The Punjab government has released the amount of Rs 112.78 Crore under ‘Aashirwad’ scheme which is given at the time of the marriage of girls belonging to Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Backward Classes (BSs) families.

Disclosing this here on Sunday, State Welfare Minister, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot said that the state government has released the amount of one year from the pending amount under Aashirwad scheme. He also said that the amount of Rs 15,000 from December 2016 to June 2017 and Rs 21,000 from July to December 2017 has been released to 65,377 beneficiaries on per beneficiary basis. He further said that under the Aashirwad scheme, the amount pertaining to the beneficiaries of 2018 would also be released soon.

Detailing more, the minister said that under the scheme, Rs 11.44 Crore have been released for 6,676 girls of SC/BC families of Amritsar, Rs 2.7 Crore for 1185 girls of Barnala, Rs 4.59 Crore for 2,664 girls of Bathinda, Rs 2.8 Crore for 1,188 girls of Faridkot, Rs 2.71 Crore for 1,556 girls of Fatehgarh Sahib, Rs 6.46 Crore for 3785 girls of Fazilka, Rs 4.39 Crore for 2,541 girls of Ferozepur, Rs 8.32 Crore for 4,748 girls of Gurdaspur, Rs 6.47 Crore for 3746 girls of Hoshiarpur, Rs 6.83 Crore for 4,019 girls of Jalandhar, Rs 3.13 Crore for1,828 girls of Kapurthala, Rs 9.48 Crore for 5,526 girls of Ludhiana, Rs 4.5 Crore for 2,360 girls of Mansa, Rs 3.47 Crore for 1,986 girls of Moga, Rs 4.24 Crore for 2450 girls of Sri Muktsar Sahib, Rs 3.63 Crore for 2,066 girls of Pathankot, Rs 6.36 Crore for 3804 girls of Patiala, Rs 3.24 Crore for 1833 girls of Rupnagar, Rs 2.52 Crore for 1452 girls of SAS Nagar (Mohali), Rs 2.97 Crore for 1,743 girls of ShaheedBhagat Singh Nagar, Rs 6.46 Crore for 3,695 girls of Sangrur and Rs 7.76 Crore for 4,526 girls of Tarntaran.

Dharamsot added that the government led by the Chief Minister (CM) Amarinder Singh is committed to fulfill its every promise. He further said that the welfare department would ensure the implementation of all welfare schemes with full transparency and provide benefit to the genuine beneficiaries.
