The death of a seven-year-old student in Gurugram’s Ryan International School has once again raised the concern of parents over the safety standards in schools in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Last year, a six-year-old student, Divyansh Kakrora, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at another Ryan International School in Vasant Kunj, Delhi, area on 31 February.

His body was found floating in a water tank below the amphitheater. Five people — principal, a teacher and three non-teaching staff of the school — were arrested, but all were later released on bail.

After one year of investigation, police have filed a chargesheet and booked the school’s principal and his class teacher in the case for their reported negligence.

Ramheet Meena, father of the boy, alleged  that “Divyansh was intentionally murdered and before that he was sexually assaulted. When the principal called me to inform he told me to stay quiet. I demand a CBI probe in the matter.”

However, the allegations of sexual assault were denied by the investigating officers.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had also called for an immediate inquiry in the matter.

On Friday, a seven-year-old boy was dead with his throat slit in the washroom of the Gurugram school. The victim has been identified as Pradyuman Thakur and his body was discovered by another student, who went to use the washroom.
