Transfer of a government employee, who joined the BJP’s recent movement at Salt Lake against non-payment of dearness allowance (DA) dues, irked the leaders of the state BJP, who condemned it saying it is an act of revenge.

BJP state secretary Raju Banerjee said a large section of the government employees want to join the state saffron brigade’s employees’ union. This has scared the Trinamul-backed employees’ union and leaders, who unleashed a revenge politics.

Kamarhati ESI Hospital group D staff Latika Mondal, joined the joint movement of the BJP and its government employees’ union, Sarkari Karmachari Parishad, on 16 February to protest against non -implementation of the recommendation of the West Bengal Pay Commission regarding DA hike.

“Latika Mondal few days ago became the member of the Sarkari Karmachari Parishad. She joined our movement at Salt Lake on 16 February. She was asked by the hospital super to join Durgapur ESI Hospital and she has suddenly been transferred,” said a senior leader.

He said Ms Mondal was transferred to Kamarhati ESI Hospital from Maniktala ESI Hospital only six months ago. “The Government did not hesitate to transfer a 50-year-old woman as she joined different organisation.

If this is a routine transfer then other group D staffs should also be transferred but it did not happen,” said Mr Banerjee.

State BJP and Sarkari Karmachari Parishad will jointly continue movement till the government’s order regarding the transfer of Ms Mondal is withdrawn.

Meanwhile, around 40 persons from Parihati area joined the BJP in Jhargram. BJP’s state leader and slum development cell convener Jitendra Moni Tribedi, who handed the flags to those  persons, later said poor minority people are highly depressed with the ruling Trinamul Congress as this party allegedly did not take any initiative for the development of the minorities.

“TMC is trying to divert the attention of the people by saying that BJP is against minorities, actually they are deceiving people by not taking any initiative to develop the state. Minority communities are living peacefully in the BJP ruled states,” he said.
