A 36-year-old Telugu news anchor committed suicide by jumping off the fifth floor of her apartment building in Hyderabad over a family dispute, police said on Monday.

Radhika Reddy, who was associated with the V6 News channel, killed herself at Srivila Apartment in Moosapet on Sunday night. The deceased was under “depression due to some family dispute” with her ex-husband. She lived with her parents.

A suicide note written in Telugu was found from her handbag. She wrote that her brain was her enemy and that nobody was responsible for her death.

The woman reportedly went to the top floor of the building at around 10.40 pm and jumped. She suffered multiple injuries and died on the spot.

Radhika got married 12 years ago and had two children. She divorced her husband six years ago and had been since living with her parents, said the police.

According to the police, there was some dispute between the estranged couple.

The police suspect she took the extreme step due to depression. They said witnesses saw her return from work on Sunday night.

Some saw her walking briskly towards the stairs. Instead of going to her flat, she apparently went to the top floor of the building and jumped off.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Bhujanga Rao said a probe into the suicide was on.
