In a sensational incident that took place in North Delhi, some unknown assailants opened indiscriminate firing at two friends late at night before fleeing the spot. One of the victims died in the hospital later.
Old rivalry is suspected to be the motive behind the planned attack. The assailants seemed to settle their old scores with the duo.
The incident took place in the Burari Police Station area on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. Both the victims were rushed to the nearby Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital, from where they were shifted to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital (LNJP), where one of the victims lost his life during treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Manoj (23), while the other victim has been identified as Raja (25), both residents of Pinki Chaudhary Colony in Burari. According to the hospital sources, the condition of Raja is stable at present. He is under regular observation of doctors.
A case of murder and attempt to murder on the statement of victim Raja has been registered at the Burari Police Station and investigation has been initiated.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Delhi), Sagar Singh Kalsi said information about the incident was received from the Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital late at night, wherein it was informed that two persons have been brought with multiple gunshot injuries.
Immediately, a police team reached the hospital where the two victims were admitted. The police took the statement of Raja as he was in a condition to speak.
After initial inquiry, primary suspicion of the police is that old enmity is the reason for the attack. The suspects have been named Babu and Mukesh Bauna of the Mukundpur area. It is suspected that they sent shooters to settle old scores.
The police are probing the matter and trying to identify the shooters, who committed the crime.
