Popular educator Faisal Khan, also known as Khan Sir, received interim relief from a Patna court on Tuesday after it stayed his arrest in a case linked to the firing incident outside his coaching institute earlier this month.

The case stems from an FIR registered at Kadamkuan Police Station following the June 2 incident in which shots were allegedly fired outside the coaching institute, leaving a security guard injured. Police later named Khan Sir and two others in the case under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act after two security guards were arrested in connection with the firing.

The FIR, registered at Kadamkuan Police Station, invokes Sections 109 and 418/2026 of the BNS as well as Sections 25(9), 27 and 35 of the Arms Act, according to police.

How the case unfolded

The controversy erupted after a video allegedly showed two security guards firing shots following an incident of vandalism outside the institute.

Police said the footage was examined during the investigation, leading to the identification and detention of the two guards associated with the coaching centre. Based on the findings and recovery of the weapons, investigators named Khan Sir and two others in the FIR under charges related to abetment and violations of the Arms Act.

The seized weapons have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for examination, police said.

Coaching rivalry angle surfaces

The development comes amid a parallel controversy involving Gyan Bindu GS Academy and its Director Raushan Anand, who was sent to judicial custody by a Patna court on June 3 along with two associates, Abhishek and Gaurav.

On Sunday, teachers and student leaders associated with the academy demanded Anand’s release, alleging that the grounds cited for his arrest were baseless.

History teacher Shashank Pathak told ANI that the administration was aware that the allegations against Anand had not been substantiated and warned of a hunger strike if he was not released.

Earlier, Anand had alleged that there was a conspiracy to target his institute following its performance in the Bihar Police examination results. He claimed that Khan Sir and others were attempting to damage the reputation of Gyan Bindu GS Academy.

The investigation into the June 2 firing incident remains underway.
