BJP seeks performance report of BJD, to release charge sheet

The state BJP on Sunday sought a report card on performance of the BJD government here and said it will release a charge sheet enlisting 36 major scams that have taken place in Odisha during the 18 year misrule of Naveen Patnaik.

It also took the BJD head on over the Mahanadi water dispute issue saying, “CM Naveen Patnaik who held the water resources portfolio for 17 years was sleeping like Kumbhakarna,” while Chhattisgarh was constructing barrages.

Way back in 2006, the issue was raised. The CM did not wake up, he kept everyone of Odisha in the dark till 2017 when the central government drew attention to a barrage being constructed by Chhattisgarh government.

The BJP leadership expressed concern and met the then Union Minister Uma Bharati who immediately called Chief Ministers of both Chhattisgarh and Odisha to resolve the issue.

But Naveen Patnaik stone walled all negotiations, did not cooperate only to keep the issue alive for narrow political gains of the BJD.

The interest of the state was sacrificed for political gains of the BJD and today when a Tribunal has been formed, the CM continues to conduct a Save Mahanadi Abhijan, chided the BJP.

In 18 years, the BJD government has not built a single barrage when over 56 percent of river water flows to the sea. The BJD had promised to irrigate 90 percent of land and today 3.11 million hectares of the total 4.59 million hectares of cultivable land remains non-irrigated, alleged the BJP resolution.

Anti-farmer policy, fake seeds, pesticide scam have all compounded the miseries of farmers. Farmer suicide has increased in the state, it alleged.

Bolstered by the impending visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 26 May, the state BJP, at its executive committee meeting on Sunday, said the PM will place his report card to the people on completion of four years in office.

We want the CM Naveen Patnaik who is presiding over a “corrupt, incompetent” and “anti-dalit, anti-women, anti- ST and anti-farmer” to submit his 18-year report card to the people, said the BJP in its resolution.

Union Ministers Juel Oram, Dharmendra Pradhan, party leader in charge of Odisha, Arun Singh and all senior leaders attended the executive committee meeting.

On 26 May, the PM will talk about his performance over the last 48 months will the CM dare to do so and be accountable the people, asked the BJP. The BJP will release a charge sheet on 36 major scams that have taken place and how the BJD has looted the state, be-fooled the people.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik peddles falsehood day in and day out, charged Union Minister Pradhan. He cited the discrepancy in figure pertaining to IMR in the state, the housing scheme and other such statistics which were all fudged.

The illegal mining, scam in cooperative sector, ration cards being cornered by ruling BJD members, MGNREGA scam etc will be exposed. The BJD and Congress have entered into an unholy alliance. Violence has been unleashed on opposition BJP activists, noted the BJP executive committee resolution.
