Alipurduar officials feel need to ease traffic

Alipurduar traffic police authorities on Monday held a meeting with councillors of Alipurduar municipality including chairman of the body.

In a bid to check number of road accidents and to raise awareness about road safety in the town, Alipurduar traffic police authorities on Monday held a meeting with councillors of Alipurduar municipality including chairman of the body.

The meeting was held at the chamber of the municipality chairman in the presence of officer in Charge of Alipurduar Traffic wing, Dibakar Ghosh, councillors of all the 20 wards of the municipality and the chairman of the municipality, Ashis Dutta, it is learnt.

The officer in charge of Alipurduar Traffic wing, Debakar Ghosh said, “The meeting was organised to raise awareness among the people, encouraging them to obey traffic rules inside the town. We called up all the municipality councillors to spread awareness among the people in their respective wards.” “The same meeting will be held in the ward level soon” added Mr Ghosh.

“The traffic wing of Alipurduar district police should be strong enough to implement and make people follow traffic rules. Police should take stern action against those who disobey traffic rules. A set of rules should be followed irrespective of politics and power.

We will be supporting the district traffic authority,” said the councillor of ward no 8 of the Alipurduar municipality, Subhas Kar Choudhuri. “The meeting was a success. We will be assisting the traffic authority in implementation of traffic rules in the town,” said the chairman of Alipurduar Municipality, Ashis Dutta.
