BJP to take action against its Kurseong MLA for anti-party work
The BJP leadership will take stern action against its MLA from Kurseong, Bishnu Prasad Sharma after election results for alleged anti-party activities ahead of Lok Sabha polls.
A group of people in Alipurduar district representing different sections of the society on Thursday formed an apolitical platform to lead an agitation against the Railways and to demand better rail services in the district.
According to officials, the newly-formed platform has been christened ‘Alipurduar Rail Parisheba Unnayan Dabi Mancha.’ All Left and Right parties, including Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party and Trinamul Congress leaders formed the ‘Mancha’ together.
Alipurduar MP Dasarath Tirkey and Alipurduar MLA Sourav Chakraborty have been made the ‘joint president’ of the Mancha, it is learnt. “A convention on railway services in the district was held at Jain Bhaban in the town on Thursday.

A numer of notable political faces including representatives of several social organisations attended the convention and formed the ‘Mancha.’ Social worker Ratul Biswas and businessmen organisation leader Paritosh Das were the conveners of the convention,” sources said.
“We are ready to go for strong movements for better railway services in Alipurduar district. The newly formed Mancha will play a vital role in the betterment of railway services in the district,” said Mr Biswas.
