Stock market ends five-day winning streak
At close, Sensex was down 609.28 points, or 0.82%, at 73,730.16. Meanwhile, Nifty opened higher at 22,620.40 and touched a low of 22,419.90 in intraday trades.
Key Indian equity indices opened on a flat note on Monday.
Around 9.16 a.m., the Nifty50 of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was down 9.85 points or 0.10 per cent to trade at 9,988.20 points.
The barometer 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the BSE, which opened at 32,536.44 points, traded at 32,628.44 points — up 31.90 points or 0.10 per cent from the previous session’s close.

The BSE market breadth was bullish with 811 advances and 499 declines.
On Friday, the equity indices receded to their five-month low levels as investors got spooked after major world economies imposed new trade protectionist measures.
The Nifty50 closed below the 10,000-points-level, declining by 116.70 points or 1.15 per cent at 9,998.05 points, while the BSE Sensex closed at 32,596.54 points — down 409.73 points or 1.24 per cent.
