Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is set to launch a Korean language programme from the 2017-18 academic session. JMI has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Korea Foundation to teach certificate and elective courses in Korean language. Korea Foundation has appointed a visiting professor to teach these courses.

A high-level delegation from the Academy of Korean Studies called on Prof. Talat Ahmad, JMI Vice Chancellor. Prof Ahmad thanked Korea Foundation and the Academy of Korean Studies for extending ‘unstinted’ support to JMI. “He hoped that collaborations with premier Korean institutions will give a new dimension to the existing academic cooperation between the institutions of learning which would be in sync with growing bilateral ties between India and Republic of Korea,” said Prof Saima Saeed, media coordinator of JMI.
