Former BJP national president and Union home minister Amit Shah today gave a call for a “corruption-free Bengal”. Shah was inaugurating the Ram Temple-themed Durga Puja pandal at Santosh Mitra Square in north Kolkata today.

He said that the change will come in Bengal and all efforts will be made to bring change here. “I want to congratulate the people of north Kolkata that they have inaugurated the Ram Temple before the unveiling of actual construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya. Let the goddess finish all evil forces,” he said.

The Ram Temple pandal has drawn inspiration from the under-construction Ram Tem- ple in Ayodhya. The inauguration ceremony took place at 5.20 pm in the Santosh Mitra Square Puja. This evening, Mr Shah arrived at Kolkata airport from Chhat- tisgarh by a special flight. From there, he went straight to Lebutala Park and inaugurated the Durga Puja pan- dal at Santosh Mitra Square.
Amit Shah said, “I have come to Bengal today only to seek the blessings of Mother Durga. These nine days are a significant celebration for
West Bengal, even bigger than Diwali. Throughout Bengal, there are elaborate Durga Puja pandals, and the worship of the goddess’s power takes place. Today, I do not wish to make any political comments. I will come to Bengal, and I will talk about politics too, but not today.”
The central minister stated he will pray on behalf of the people of Bengal and all the countrymen. Simultaneous- ly, he will also pray for the strength to stand against cor- ruption, injustice, and oppression in Bengal so that Goddess Durga grants everyone that power.

BJP leader Sajal Ghosh was present by his side, who is one of the main organizers of the puja. “Amit Shah also inaugurated a puja pandal in 2021, during Assembly elections in Kolkata. BJP had organised Durga Puja celebrations in Bengal during that time and Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually paticipated in the inauguration,” said Mr Ghosh
