In a bid to augment additional safety in train operations, the Eastern Railway has eliminated 8 manned level crossings so far in the financial year 2023-24. Furthermore, the zonal railway has constructed a total of 17 RUBs/limited height in 2023-24 over its network spread over West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand for developing Railway infrastructure as well as eliminating requirement of manned level crossings.

The ER has also completed reinforced cement concrete (RCC) box insertion work for construction of RUB/limited height subway between Dhatrigram and Samudragarh stations of Bandel – Katwa section towards substituting level crossing gate number 12/1/E. This is expected to increase the mobility in Bandel – Katwa section of Howrah division. Moreover, in Malda division also RCC box has been inserted for constructing limited height subway in replacement of level gate number 41 and 42 between Dumka and Barapalasi in Dumka – Bhagalpur section, according to the ER.
