The first official look at Hollywood actor Sophie Turner as iconic video game heroine Lara Croft has been unveiled, giving fans a glimpse of her transformation for the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot series.

Prime Video reveals first look of Turner as Lara Croft

Prime Video shared a wardrobe test image of Turner in character, showing the Game of Thrones alum action-ready in Lara Croft’s signature shorts, sunglasses and dual pistols. The image captures Turner projecting confidence, grit and the fearless resolve that has defined the legendary adventurer for decades.

Production underway and ensemble cast announced

Production on the Tomb Raider series is currently underway, according to Variety. Turner leads a star-studded ensemble that includes Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie and August Wittgenstein.

Turner on playing an iconic role

Sharing her excitement about the role, Turner said she has been a long-time fan of both the Tomb Raider franchise and Lara Croft as a character.

“She has always felt, for me, very emboldened in a male-dominated world. She’s a fierce female role model,” Turner said, reflecting on why the character continues to resonate with audiences.

A legacy character with a global fan base

First introduced in 1996, Lara Croft quickly became one of the most recognisable female action icons in gaming and popular culture. The character has previously been portrayed on the big screen by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander, each bringing their own interpretation to the role.

Creative team behind the reboot

The upcoming series is a collaboration between Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios. Created and written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the show is directed by Jonathan Van Tulleken.

Executive producers include Amazon MGM Studios, Crystal Dynamics, Waller-Bridge, Jenny Robins for Wells Street Films, Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, Timothy I. Stevenson, Dallas Dickinson for Story Kitchen, Michael Scheel and Legendary Television.
