The Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Thursday launched joint raids in Padgha in Thane district in connection with suspected terror funding, officials confirmed. The coordinated operation began early this morning in the Bhiwandi region.
According to officials, the searches were initiated based on findings from earlier ATS operations in Borivali village, Padgha. Residences of multiple suspects were searched, while ED teams examined suspicious financial transactions possibly linked to terror-related activities. The ATS is assisting the federal agency in the ongoing operation.

The raids are part of continued efforts to dismantle potential terror-financing channels and monitor individuals and groups under suspicion.
Previous crackdowns in Padgha
June search operation: Earlier in June, the ATS and Thane Police launched similar raids at the residences of 22 individuals in Borivali, Padgha. Those searches were conducted for several suspected members, including former SIMI office-bearer Saquib Nachan. During that operation, the ATS recovered 19 mobile phones and incriminating documents linked to radicalisation.
Earlier NIA raids: In 2023, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) also carried out search operations at multiple locations in Padgha over suspected terror-related activities. Saquib Nachan, arrested by the NIA during that phase, passed away in June this year at a Delhi hospital.
