Lok Sabha elections 2024 Phase Two: Voting underway in 88 seats across 13 states
The Lok Sabha elections 2024 are being held in seven phases till June 1 and votes will be counted on June 4.
The case is registered under IPC sections 465 (forgery), 466 (falsification of official documents) and 469 (falsification of documents to disparage one’s status).
The Crime Branch wing of Kerala police on Tuesday registered a case in the letter alleged to have sent by Thiruvananthapuram Corporation mayor Arya Rajendran to CPI-M district secretary, Anavoor Nagappan seeking a ‘priority list’ of candidates from the party for contractual appointments in the Corporation.

Earlier, state Police Chief Amilkanth had directed to register a case and conduct a detailed investigation into the Thiruvananthapuram the letter controversy involving Mayor Arya Rajendran. The police chief ordered the probe following the recommendations of the Crime Branch team that conducted a preliminary inquiry. The case will be investigated by a new unit of the crime branch, sources said.

The crime branch has not been able to find the original copy of the letter circulating in the name of Mayor Arya Rajendran.The crime branch recommended that a case should be registered to find out who prepared and forged the signature of the Mayor.
Meanwhile, the opposition Congress and BJP decided to intensify the protest within the corporation over the letter controversy. Congress and BJP leaders said they will continue the strike until the mayor resigns
Thiruvananthapuram mayor Arya Rajendran faces the allegation that she had written a letter to the CPI-M district secretary, Anavoor Nagappan seeking a list from the party to appoint 295 contract staff in the health wing of the city corporation.
