Among all the guests who attended the Royal wedding on Saturday, there was a Mumbai girl. Activist Suhani Jalota, who runs Myna Mahila Foundation, attended the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The Royal couple earlier asked their guests to bring no gifts but donations for charity. They selected seven charitable organisations and among the UK-based charities, there is one foundation from Mumbai.

Suhani was at the royal wedding to represent her Myna Mahila Foundation that empowers women to speak about issues they are most afraid of. The foundation employ women from urban slums in Mumbai to manufacture and sell affordable sanitary pads back into their communities, improving menstrual hygiene, providing stable employment, and building a trusted network.

At the tender age of 23 my Fabulous Female Suhani Jalota has achieved more than most do in a lifetime. . Her Women’s Health Organisation, the Myna Mahila Foundation is committed to addressing menstrual hygiene in India, where it is considered a taboo topic. . As a woman can you imagine being denied access to sanitary pads? This is the reality for 320 million women in India. . Suhani has worked tirelessly alongside her schooling to turn this situation around. In doing so she has achieved worldwide acclaim and awards aplenty. . The foundation is one of only seven charities chosen to benefit from donations marking the wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. . Not surprisingly perhaps Suhani’s definition of a fabulous female is one who can inspire other women and men to change the world. . . Meghan visited Mumbai as a global ambassador for World Vision Canada. She was there to raise awareness about women’s health and hygiene, when she visited Myna Mahila foundation.

The 23-year-old Suhani met Meghan back in 2016 when she went to give an acceptance speech at the Glamour College Women of the Year Awards. Talking about her meeting with the royal bride, she said,”Meghan was intrigued by our work and had said, then, that she wanted to make a trip to India as this was an area she wanted to lend her support to. After she visited us in January last year, she said she wanted to position the organisation well so as to maximise the impact, and she’s been a great guide,” India today quotes Suhani.
