After winning the toss and electing to bat first, India were cruising along nicely till the end of 35 overs with the scoreboard reading 211/2 with Virat Kohli (14) and Rishabh Pant (9) in the middle. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul gave the men-in-blue just the perfect start as they put on 180 runs for the first wicket.
While Rohit scored his fourth hundred of the ongoing tournament (104), KL Rahul also contributed with 77 runs. Rohit also went on to score 1000 runs in 2019 and was soon joined by Virat Kohli when he made seven runs in the match.
Earlier, Indian team management had made two changes in their playing XI by including Dinesh Karthik in place of Kedar Jadhav and adding Bhuvneshwar Kumar instead of Kuldeep Yadav. The Bangladesh side also made a couple of changes to their XI as Rubel Hossain and Sabbir Rehman were included in the Playing XI in places of Mehidy Hasan and Mahmudullah, respectively.
The last three times India and Bangladesh have met in an ICC event (ICC World Cup 2015, ICC World T20 2016, ICC Champions Trophy 2017), Bangladesh have scared India big time, but on all these occasions, India somehow managed to hold their nerves and edge past Bangladesh.
On this occasion though, India are looking in a comfortable position as of now. Will Bangladesh make a comeback and edge past India?
We will have to wait and see. A delightful evening awaits cricket fans.
