Chit fund agents protest arrest of company owner

Police today arrested 35 agents of a chit fund company after they protested demanding release of three company officials who were arrested yesterday.
Barasat police today produced the three before Barasat court which sentenced them to seven-day police custody.Owner of Ramel Group, Mr Rameswar Poddar, and two managers ~ Mr Rishikesh Bhattacharya and Mr Dipak Kundu ~ were arrested yesterday from a five star hotel.
They had been absconding for some months after they allegedly duped investors worth Rs 1,700 core.Many agents of the chit fund company gathered in front of Barasat court.
They protested demanding release of the owner and the managers.
The agitating agents blocked NH-34 for one-and-a-half hour.
