Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary on Thursday asserted that prohibition will not be lifted in the state, reiterating that the existing law will be enforced strictly.
Vijay Kumar, 45, who hails from Mathura (UP), was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2010 after being convicted in a double murder case registered at the Police Station Keshav Puram in Delhi. He was released on parole in 2021 in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Former DGP Vijay Kumar and his wife along with leaders of various parties were inducted in the party by the Deputy CM.
Besides being the acting DGP, Kumar will also hold the additional charge of DG Vigilance, DG CBCID. The tenure of the new acting DGP will be up to January, 2024.
