Kashmir is currently under the grip of 'Chillai-Kalan'- the 40-day harshest period of winter when the chances of snowfall are most frequent and maximum and the temperature drops considerably.
At the Safdarjung and Palam Observatory, the night temperature was recorded at 9.4 degree Celsius during the last 24 hours.
Besides Leh, Kargil and Gulmarg in north Kashmir also recorded sub-zero night temperatures of minus 3.8 and minus 1.3 degrees Celsius, respectively.
