Presenting the demands for grants in the House, Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore said the additional outlay was necessitated by emerging requirements during the current fiscal and the need to accelerate key development works.
According to the schedule of the assembly announced here on Tuesday, on December 19, the house will pass a condolence message on the death of sitting SP member Sudhakar Singh and it will adjourn for the day.
Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore presented the budget during Zero Hour as Opposition members remained in the Well of the House raising slogans over alleged irregularities in student scholarship disbursals and non-procurement of paddy from farmers at the promised price.
While the annual budget for 2025-26 is pegged at Rs 2.90 lakh crore, the supplementary outlay aims to meet the “needs and expectations of a welfare state” by supporting critical projects, accommodating changes in central funding patterns, and recouping advances from the Odisha Contingency Fund.
Instead, clashes between treasury and opposition benches dominated the day, forcing multiple adjournments.
The session, which will run until August 7, will feature the tabling of the first supplementary budget for the 2025–26 financial year on Monday.
Amid ruckus by opposition Congress and discussions for four hours, the first supplementary budget of Madhya Pradesh BJP government worth Rs 22224 crore was passed in the State Assembly here on Wednesday evening.
The Yogi Adityanath government presented its second supplementary budget for the financial year 2024-25 in the state assembly on Tuesday. It amounts to Rs 17,865.72 crore, including new proposals worth Rs 790.49 crore.
The three-day session is being held in the new assembly building at Bharari Sain, six kilometres from Gairsain, after a gap of 17 months.
