According to the notification issued by the Commission, elections will be conducted for 49 urban local bodies, including six Municipal Corporations, 19 Municipal Councils and 24 Nagar Panchayats.
The State Election Commission on Wednesday revoked the decision to delete her vote, which had been removed due to alleged irregularities in her house number.
The direction came during the hearing of a contempt petition filed over the government’s failure to conduct municipal elections in the state.
The Congress government in Telangana is considering approaching the Supreme Court to ensure 42 per cent reservation for the Backward Classes (BC) in the local polls after the High Court directed that the State Election Commission could proceed with the elections, but under the earlier reservation rules.
Mr Ghosh said, “The State Election Commissioner is facing the music in the Calcutta High Court every now and then and yet he behaves like a 'servant' of the TMC and maintains a partisan attitude towards the Opposition members.”
The timing for polls on 22 January is from 7am to 5pm. Polling will be conducted using EVMs while the electoral roll of ECI being used is updated upto 01.11.2021. In terms of security, it was shared that all polling booths will have CCTV surveillance cameras while a meeting on security arrangements on polling day will be held on 4 January with the police.

The CPI-M leader mentioned that Left is submitting the complaints with evidence to the municipal returning officer since TMC goons didn’t allow anyone to lodge complaints with the presiding officer. “We have demanded repolling in wards- 101, 102, 109 and 110 and 113 (part). Also, wards 2, 8, 10 (part) 17, 18, 19, 20 and 36 and 99 (part)”.
The Commission is to take the help of the state to boost up the confidence of the voters, it was directed. Area domination and route marches are to be conducted among with installation of close circuit cameras, it was further directed. The state and the commission are to submit reports to the court. The matter will again be heard on 23 December.
