The climate activist has given the call for the march to LAC to draw the attention of the people to the plight of the Pashmina goat herders of the eastern frontier region of Changthang.
Wangchuk has already warned that the people will go to jail if the march is stopped by the authorities.
A video on the reformist's private YouTube channel showed scores of locals joining his protest site.
In 1994, Wangchuk launched Operation New Hope to bring reforms to the government school system.
The local residents have been demanding inclusion of Ladakh under the Sixth Schedule to ensure overall economic development and autonomy.
The aim of reforming the prestigious forum was to make it more inclusive by involving all local stakeholders to work for the revival, preservation, and promotion of Ladakh’s rich cultural heritage, said Sonam Wangchuk who has been nominated general secretary of the forum.
"Indian and Chinese troops are being withdrawn from friction points. Disengagement is happening. It is good thing for both. Around 50,000 troops were deployed at high- altitude areas in harsh winter conditions. It was a difficult situation."
In 2013, he innovated “Ice Stupa”, an artificial glacier meant for storing extra winter water so that it could be used during summer, the time when farmers need it the most.

Wangchuk says he will dedicate the award to the minorities of mountain areas of Ladakh whose requirements are different from those of rest of the country and at times remain unattended.
