The HP Ghosh Hospital, a multi-speciality hospital at Salt Lake, today launched a unique scheme involving doctors at doorstep through a health card named, “Snehobondhon” for the senior citizens of the city.
The Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on Wednesday said it is supporting over 708 NGOs operating continuous care homes, physiotherapy centres, old age homes, and mobile medicare units through the Integrated Programme for Senior Citizens (IPSrC).
The event witnessed the participation of over 400 senior citizens and 150 police personnel, including senior officials such as the Special Commissioner, Additional Commissioner, and Deputy Commissioners from all districts of the city.
Travel is therapeutic, especially for seniors, as it offers a distinctive opportunity to break away from their routine lives. Not only does it contribute to sharpening their perspectives and adapting to new situations, but it also aids in building a robust coping mechanism.
“The civic body will first contact the doctor and inform him/her about the timings and the date of vaccination. We will mostly administer vaccines to such patients during the evening hours. Everyone will receive vaccines and if they don’t they can inform the KMC immediately.”
The toll-free helpline 14567 will provide free information and guidance on various issues, extend emotional support, and even take steps to rescue the homeless elderly.
