According to the data of facial injuries reporting to the OPD of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, at Himachal Pradesh Government Dental College and Hospital Shimla, the year 2022 witnessed 256 patients visiting the hospital out of which 64 (25 per cent) patients required major operations.
The accidents took place near Udmari village in Balipara Tehsil and Dighai Gaon late Tuesday night.
During the fortnight, employees who arrive at work without a helmet for the second time in a department will not be given an entry and counted absent.
On an average, more than 18 road accidents occurred across the State from 2019 to 2021.
The 2020 year saw the death of 2,511 motorcyclists and two-wheeler-riders. Of the ill-fated road accident victims, as many as 2,008 did not sports helmets.
Arun Bothra, Transport Commissioner cum Chairman, State Transport Authority, Odisha proposed the vote of thanks.
“Many road accidents take place due to human error. Besides, improvement in the construction of roads could prevent road accidents. Road safety is not just a month-long programme but is an awareness campaign that continues throughout life,” he added.
As per the data, 5194 accidents were registered in the year 2020 while 3866 people lost their lives in road accidents in the same year.
With 9,431 road accidents in 2020, the average number of accidents reported daily came down to 26 as compared to about 30 cases of mishaps were reported everyday in 2019.
