Horticulture, Food Processing and Defence Services Welfare Minister Fauja Singh Sarari resigned from the state Cabinet on Saturday following the leak of an audio clip purportedly suggesting an extortion plan four months back.
Tripura assembly Secretary Bishnu Pada Karmakar, confirming the unexpected development, told IANS that Das submitted his resignation letter to Deputy Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen.
Lathika said she would not join any other party and has not decided on contesting the poll as an independent candidate. She said she had wished to contest from Ettumanoor, her home constituency. She also registered her protest against women getting less representation in the Congress’ candidates list.
He said, “There is no democracy left in Congress. Candidate list has not been discussed with the state Congress Committee. I have sent my resignation to Sonia Gandhi.”
In his resignation letter, forest minister Rajib Banerjee said, “I regret to inform you that I hereby tender my resignation from my Office as Cabinet Minister being in charge of Forest Department on today, i.e., On 22nd of January, 2021.”
