“The government should see that whenever an investigation is ongoing anywhere in the world, there should be no interference from political parties or from anywhere else, so that it can be free and fair. Party interference at this moment is misuse and abuse of power and will lead to a distorted investigation. People will lose confidence in it,”
“The fact-finding committee went to the village in Birbhum where the incident took place. We had to face problems to reach the village due to the ruling Trinamul Congress (TMC). The committee had four former IPS officers and they made a comprehensive report. We handed over the report to party president JP Nadda today. We will also hand over a copy of this confidential report to Union home Minister Amit Shah,”
The CBI officials have also sought the list of active criminals of the area from the local police, sources said. Prima facie it seems that the incident has occurred amidst complete intelligence failure of the police.
The SIT set up by the state government will henceforth have nothing to do with the investigation into the Bagtui incident, and neither the state police nor the SIT will not carry out any further investigation from the time the case is handed over to the CBI, it was directed.
“It is only a matter of time before Mamata Banerjee flies to Delhi to strike a deal with the Narendra Modiled government at the Centre. She will again fool the people by saying that she was in Delhi to get the central funds released for the state. It is an old trick which by now every citizen in Bengal is acquainted with,”
While being produced in court, Anarul Hussein, the Rampurhat Block-1 president of Trinamul Congress claimed that he is innocent and surrendered before the police as per Trinamul chairperson Mamata Banerjee’s wish.
Apart from a few arrests, the “benching” of the local police station’s officer-in-charge and the “shunting” of Rampurhat’s Sub-Divisional Police Officer, no other action appears to have been taken even four days after the macabre tragedy. There has been much too much of tirades and verbal demarches; a spirited response from the Chief Minister; and far too little of substantive action on the ground.
“We demand that the police seal the adjacent village in Rampurhat from where the attacks were launched in the Bagtui village under the leadership of TMC, and retrieve all the illegal arms and explosives stored by the TMC goons."
