During a routine checking and frisking operation of vehicles passing at night, at state highway 14 in Rampurhat, Birbhum Police has intercepted a truck and has seized 16,000 kilograms of ammonium nitrate powder.
From Shaktigarh to Rampurhat is a 3.30 hours travel time. The police suspects, either the mastermind behind the don's murder had hired some local gunman from Birbhum or the gangsters had procured bombs from Birbhum, which, however is quite 'easily' available there.
A huge police team led by SDPO Dhiman Mitra recovered live bombs from a house of Palash Sheikh in Bagtui village. Fire brigade officials also escorted the bomb disposal squad members to the village.
CBI officers are checking the CCTV footage of that house to get clues. The footage will be vital for getting a perfect picture of what has happened during that dreaded night. Sayan Ahmed, a former SDPO of Rampurhat, claimed to the CBI that he had left for the village after receiving phone calls from his superiors.
After the Nandigram firing Mr Gandhi had said the use of force in the area could have been avoided. “Was this spilling of human blood not avoidable?” “I cannot be so casual to the oath I have taken as to restrict my reaction to a pious expression of anguish and outrage,” Mr Gandhi had reacted after Nandigram killings.

Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari hit out at the TMC, saying that law and order is in “rapid freefall” in the state.
