As many as 79 vital roads in the border region of Rajouri and Poonch remain shut for vehicular traffic after these were extensively damaged after being hit by flash floods and landslides on Sunday.
Several people lost their lives and extensive damage was reported after flash floods triggered by incessant rainfall struck the LoC regions of the Rajouri and Poonch districts on Sunday.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Dhiraj Seth on Thursday visited forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch, Rajouri and Sunderbani sectors of Jammu and Kashmir and reviewed the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness of the formations deployed in the region.
Operation Sheruwali is a major joint counter-terrorism operation launched by the Indian Army, Jammu & Kashmir Police, and the CRPF in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The White Knight Corps wrote on X: “During a river crossing training exercise conducted in the general area of Sundarbani, Sepoy Akshit Sharma was reported missing at around 12 pm today”.
