The common man in Uttar Pradesh, already grappling with inflation, cooking gas shortages, and increased milk prices, received yet another blow as petrol, diesel, and CNG prices in the state increased starting Friday morning.
India’s state-run oil companies have raised petrol and diesel prices by ₹3 per litre nationwide, pushing fuel costs higher across major cities amid rising crude oil pressures.
The Government has said that citizens are encouraged to use alternate fuels such as PNG and electric or induction cooktops.
In the light of the ongoing developments in West Asia, the Union government on Wednesday said India is maintaining sufficient stocks of petrol and diesel, adding that all refineries are operating at high capacity, with adequate crude inventories in place.
Notably, fuel prices have been steady for the past one-and-a-half months.
Kejriwal said in a tweet in Hindi, "Today we have made petrol very cheap in Delhi. We have slashed the VAT rate from 30 per cent to 19.4 per cent. Petrol and diesel have become cheaper in Delhi compared to other NCR cities and towns. Hope this step will bring relief to people living in Delhi from the price rise."
As a result, under the daily price adjustment procedure used by oil marketing corporations, gasoline and diesel prices remained unchanged for the 11th consecutive day.
In the financial capital Mumbai, petrol continued to be priced at Rs 109.98 a litre and diesel Rs 94.14 a litre.
"This corrupt Congress government and it's CM who is only interested in loot and scoot lathi-charged peaceful Akali workers raising voice of farmers demanding compensation of Rs 50,000/acre for cotton growers and reduction in State VAT on petrol and diesel by Rs 10/Ltr in front of CM residence."
