This was stated today by Union Minister for Personnel Jitendra Singh while addressing a Bankers' Awareness Workshop in Bhopal.
The minister for social security, Dr Baljit Kaur had directed the department to conduct verification of pensioners.
The KMC budget has spelt out that there is a deficit of Rs 177 crore in the year 2022-23 since the expenditure estimate is Rs 4,410.11 crore while the revenue target is Rs 4,233.11 crore. However, what now looms over the civic body is a cumulative deficit of Rs 2,423.70 crores. This amount, as per the budget statement, may increase to a cumulative deficit amount of Rs 2,600.70 crore
An official spokesperson said in 2015, a total of 15,55,440 beneficiaries were given Rs 1000 per month, whereas today the number of beneficiaries has increased to 28,57,529 and the pension has increased to Rs 2500 per month.
For the ease of pensioners, DLC was carried out on wheels where the pensioners drove near the designated post offices in car, taxis, autos or rickshaws and got their registration done while remaining seated in the vehicle. The bed-ridden patients were attended by postmen at their residences at their request and generated the DLC.
A notification in this regard was issued by additional secretary finance Prabodh Saxena.
The hike of 4 per cent means that the monthly salary of central government employees’ will go up by Rs 720 to Rs 10,000 per month.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has repeatedly stressed on ensuring that employees get their pension immediately after retirement.
The life certificate in the prescribed format is verified by the authorities and has to be submitted to the Pension Disbursing Authority either directly or through the bank.
