The 42-day-long festive season, clubbed with reforms and rural resurgence, helped India’s auto retail sales soar to a record 4.02 million units in October 2025.
During the Navratri festival, auto retail sales witnessed a robust recovery with growth ranging between 15-35% year-on-year (YoY) across passenger vehicle (PV) and two-wheeler (2W) segments.
The passenger vehicle (PV) dispatches to dealerships dropped by 9 per cent year-on-year in August, data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) said, adding the two-wheeler sales recorded steady growth.
Passenger vehicle wholesales got off to a positive start in fiscal 2025–26, registering nearly 4% growth in April to 348,847 units.
As per the data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), this follows a 2.5 pc decline in July 2024, marking a slowdown after the segment grew by 3% in the first quarter (April-June) of FY24.
Notably, the domestic automobile industry's sales volumes (excluding CVs) grew 10 per cent YoY in February 2021, recording positive growth for the seventh consecutive month.
The two-wheeler sales rose 1,426,865 units in February 2021, compared to 1,294,787 units, representing a growth of 10.20 per cent.
In the October-December quarter this fiscal, passenger vehicle sales increased 14.44 per cent to 8,97,908 units from 7,84,616 units in the year-ago period.
Two-wheeler sales increased 11.88 per cent to 14,24,620 units last month, as compared to 12,73,318 units in December 2019.
Three-wheeler sales also remained in slow lane last month with a massive 75.29 per cent dip in offtakes.
