The report further said that in the financial year 2023-24, the two-wheeler exports declined by 5.3% Y-o-Y to 3.458 million units.
The passenger vehicle wholesale in India rose by 8.4 per cent year-on-year to 42,18,746 units in the financial year 2023-24, industry body SIAM said on Friday.
Earlier this month, the country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India hiked hatchback Swift and CNG variants of other models by up to Rs 15,000 to counter increase in input costs.
Notably, the domestic automobile industry's sales volumes (excluding CVs) grew 10 per cent YoY in February 2021, recording positive growth for the seventh consecutive month.
The two-wheeler sales rose 1,426,865 units in February 2021, compared to 1,294,787 units, representing a growth of 10.20 per cent.
In the October-December quarter this fiscal, passenger vehicle sales increased 14.44 per cent to 8,97,908 units from 7,84,616 units in the year-ago period.
Two-wheeler sales increased 11.88 per cent to 14,24,620 units last month, as compared to 12,73,318 units in December 2019.
Three-wheeler sales also remained in slow lane last month with a massive 75.29 per cent dip in offtakes.
Vehicle sales across categories stood at 16,46,332 units last month as against 20,34,597 units in February 2019, SIAM data showed.
