Fearing a setback to Kashmir’s tourism industry at a crucial time, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday met top Union ministers in New Delhi and pressed for a review of the proposed October closure of Srinagar Airport, arguing that uninterrupted air connectivity is vital during the Valley’s peak tourist season.

As for J&K, Dr Jitendra Singh said the Department of Administrative Reforms DARPG in the Union Ministry of Personnel had helped J&K government to transit to e-Office, thereby saving crores of rupees incurred in transport of all the office files to and fro between Jammu and Srinagar during each Durbar move.
He was addressing the day-long National Governance Conference on “Holistic Development of Districts: Transforming Governance for Viksit Bharat”, organised by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India, in collaboration with the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
Stating that a mere expression of concern was not adequate, he urged the Chief Minister to take a clearer and stronger position on the killing that has triggered widespread outrage across the Valley.
