The observation was made by Akanksha Ranjan, Deputy Secretary (Nursing & Dental), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, during a discussion on strengthening the nursing workforce in India and Australia, held in New Delhi on Monday.
According to an official document, the country’s TB treatment coverage has also expanded in the last decade, rising from 53 per cent in 2015 to 92 per cent in 2024.
The Prime Minister’s remarks followed the release of the latest World Health Organization (WHO) Global Tuberculosis Report 2025, which validated the effectiveness of India’s intensified, technology-driven elimination strategy.
