The Indian delegation was led by Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane, while the Maldivian delegation was headed by Chief of Defence Force, Maldives National Defence Force General lbrahim Hilmy.
India and the Maldives have renewed a Memorandum of Understanding for capacity building of 1000 Maldivian civil services officers during 2024-2029 as part of the development partnership discussions between the two nations.
“The cooperation between the two countries has moved beyond the traditional role, and today aspires to be a modern partnership,” said the external affairs minister after a meeting with his Maldivian counterpart Moosa Zameer.
The Chinese vessel is expected to arrive in Male in early February.
The prime minister urged the well-to-do class to perform wedding ceremonies in the country and refrain from foreign destination weddings.
"The next meeting is to be held in India to take the discussions forward. So that is where the situation as far as the Maldives is concerned," MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said at a media briefing.
According to Maldivian media reports, the Island nation's President Mohamed Muizzu has formally conveyed this to India.
Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidate Adam Azim defeated Azima Shakoor from the ruling People's National Congress (PNC).
