“The cooperation between the two countries has moved beyond the traditional role, and today aspires to be a modern partnership,” said the external affairs minister after a meeting with his Maldivian counterpart Moosa Zameer.
India and the Maldives had reached an agreement that the Indian soldiers operating the three aircraft would be replaced with non-military technical personnel.
The Maldives is highly vulnerable to climate change risks, with potentially severe economic costs due to floods and rising sea level, the IMF said.
In his first presidential statement at the opening of the last session of the 19th Parliament, he said talks are going on with India to send back their troops.
