Solanki informed that, through the Sakal Panchayat, Delhi's villagers may seek the support of the Khap Panchayats and their farmer brethren from Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh for the movement if the government does not come up with a solution.
The villagers from Delhi's rural belt staged a peaceful demonstration, in keeping with the traditions of the Panchayat, led by the pradhans of the respective Khaps under the leadership of Chaudhary Surendra Solanki, chief of Palam 360.
The proceedings at the panchayat were presided over by Chaudhary Surendra Solanki, head of the Palam 360 villages, in the presence of Karala (17), Pradhan Samundar Singh Tikri (5), Pachgaon Pradhan Anar Singh, Surendra Dabas, Naresh Lakra, Dharmendra Bakkarwala, Rajinder Pradhan, and Moolchand Sahrawat.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) faced a crushing defeat in the Delhi assembly elections, with prominent leaders Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Saurabh Bhardwaj losing their respective constituencies on Saturday.
Solanki hit out at the Delhi and central governments, alleging that the city's rural belt has been neglected for a long time, with civic issues piling up and forcing people to live in inhuman conditions.
The administration informed the High Court that no permission had been given for Mahapanchayat on December 1.
Palam 360 Khap President Chaudhary Surender Solanki said he was visiting 20 villages daily to enlist the support of the villagers for the event. The villagers have assured him of their presence in large numbers at the panchayat to voice their grievances.
Khap chief Surender Solanki lamented that long pending issues concerning the city's rural belt are yet to be addressed.
Palwal Superintendent of Police Lokendra Singh, while talking to ANI, said, “Permission for the (Mahapanchayat) has been granted on several conditions."
The apex court asked the petitioner, an NGO, to approach the Uttarakhand High Court as the law and order issue comes under the state government.
