A panchayat organized at the Baraat Ghar in Delhi’s Bakkarwala as a precursor to the Mahapanchayat of 360 villages saw the participation of hundreds of residents from nearby villages. The gathering was a preparatory meeting for the upcoming event scheduled to take place in Bindapur this Sunday.
The proceedings at the panchayat were presided over by Chaudhary Surendra Solanki, head of the Palam 360 villages, in the presence of Karala (17), Pradhan Samundar Singh Tikri (5), Pachgaon Pradhan Anar Singh, Surendra Dabas, Naresh Lakra, Dharmendra Bakkarwala, Rajinder Pradhan, and Moolchand Sahrawat.

The panchayat was attended by prominent people from five villages around Tikri, all the villages of Karala 17, Rani Kheda, Rasoolpur, Mubarakpur, Madanpur, Ghevra, Baprola, Bakkarwala, and many other villages.
The issue prominently raised in the panchayat was the toll tax which, they made clear, is not acceptable to Delhi’s countryside under any circumstances. All the villagers appeared ready to unite and protest.
Chaudhary Surendra Solanki said a toll tax has never been imposed on the villagers in the history of Delhi’s countryside, and even now the villagers will not tolerate it at any cost.
He said while the previous governments grabbed the land of the farmers of rural Delhi at throwaway prices, the incumbent government wants to impose a toll tax on the villagers, which will be strongly opposed.
He added that the people of rural Delhi had formed the government in Delhi by supporting the BJP after 27 years, hence the villagers hoped that the government would solve their problems and immediately end the system of toll tax.
According to the villagers, this movement will run under the leadership of Solanki, and in the Maha Panchayat to be held on the coming Sunday, the MPs and MLAs of rural Delhi will be summoned, and their stand will be demanded to be brought before the public.
