Senior Left Front leaders visited the family of the victim girl, who was killed in a crude bomb blast during a political rally last week at Molanda, Kaliganj in Nadia district.

The Left Front sought to give out a positive message as its candidate for ward 70 in Bhawanipore, Barun Das today began his campaign after a visit to the Netaji Bhavan. He paid his respects to the freedom fighter before filing his nomination as the candidate.
Ahead of the civic polls, the Opposition parties in Bengal have time and again levelled allegations of corruption in municipal bodies against the TMC-run government. The Left wants to change this by setting up a municipal vigilance authority where all project tenders of the KMC and its budget details would be posted on the civic body’s website for public information. If any citizen wants to lodge a complaint regarding any municipal issues, they can do so through a complaint cell which will also be set up.
The Left Front, after much deliberation on the matter of fielding candidates, which included a possible seat-sharing understanding with the Congress, has eventually decided to field its own candidates in about 127 seats and spare 17 wards for “non-Left” candidates.
As of now, the Left Front is deciding to contest all by themselves and field candidates in at least 20 to 25 seats in the Kolkata and Howrah municipal corporation elections.
