Internal tensions have begun surfacing within the Jharkhand Congress soon after the announcement of the party’s new 314-member Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), exposing signs of unease over the organisational reshuffle.
Leader of Opposition and state BJP president Babulal Marandi accused the Congress of deliberately creating confusion around the initiative. He said the scheme, formally described as Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural), reflects Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of Ram Rajya through village-centric and corruption-free development.
The decision was taken at a meeting of board and corporation office-bearers, frontal organisation leaders and departmental heads held at the Congress Bhavan here under the chairmanship state Congress president Keshav Mahato Kamlesh.
Finance Minister and senior Congress leader Radhakrishna Kishore sought to downplay the concerns, emphasizing that JMM is a mature political party and that Chief Minister Hemant Soren is a seasoned leader. “Any dissatisfaction is temporary and will be addressed once Bihar election results are out,” he said.
Presided over by state president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh, with Jharkhand in-charge K. Raju as the chief guest, the session outlined a structured roadmap for party consolidation ahead of upcoming municipal and local body elections.
State Congress leaders insisted that the party remained structurally intact and ideologically focused.
