As part of its organisational expansion drive, the Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) convened a major meeting in Dumka, Santhal Pargana, focusing on strengthening Gram Panchayat Committees and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). The meeting brought together district presidents, observers, and officials from both rural and urban units.
Presided over by state president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh, with Jharkhand in-charge K. Raju as the chief guest, the session outlined a structured roadmap for party consolidation ahead of upcoming municipal and local body elections. Mahto emphasised that empowering grassroots units is critical for the party’s electoral performance.

According to the leadership, the organisational push began with Pakur district, followed by Godda, Dumka, Jamtara, and Sahebganj. Each district president has been instructed to ensure that Connect Centres receive all necessary documents and information. By October, the party aims to complete flag hoisting in villages, update Connect Centres, and distribute certificates to officials.
The leadership also directed that Booth Level Agents (BLAs) be appointed and trained by October 31, with a second round of BLA appointments to follow. Special training sessions for Gram Panchayat Committees and ward presidents at the block level are scheduled for November.
Highlighting electoral integrity, K. Raju underlined that the Election Commission will conduct the SIR process in Jharkhand in November. He stressed that all Booth Level Officers must ensure that no genuine voter is omitted and no fake names are added to voter lists. “The Congress party does not run on a single individual, but on the collective strength of the organisation. Active participation at every level is mandatory,” he said.
The meeting also focused on increasing the involvement of women and Scheduled Caste (SC) members in organisational activities, signalling the party’s intention to broaden representation in its grassroots units.
The JPCC also set an October deadline to complete all Urban Local Body-related organisational activities to ensure the party is fully prepared and influential in the upcoming elections.
