Hospitals in Islamabad are on high alert for any untoward situation ahead of the general elections on Thursday, ARY News reported.
Amid the concerns of pollution and air quality in the city, doctors from various hospitals issued a health advisory, stressing on the use of N-95 masks on smoggy mornings.
Hospitals in the Delhi-NCR region have reported a rise in cases of eye irritation, prolonged coughing and throat infection after the air quality in the region worsened with a slip to the 'severe' zone in several parts.

Dr Rishi Raj Borah, Country Director, Orbis India said, "Air pollution is known to erode lung and heart health, but it can affect the eyes too, even for those who wear spectacles. Those who are exposed to polluted air regularly are said to have experienced watering of or a burning sensation in their eyes."
"In case a person does not have any of the health card, identification of the person/issuance of new card will be facilitated in the hospital itself. Similar arrangements should also have to be made for all PPP diagnostic centres," the advisory said.
