Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee after the latter invoked Assam and the northeast in her speech while criticising the Central government in the wake of massive protests in her state.
He was reacting to Mamata Banerjee's remark, "If Bengal burns, so will Assam".
The Assam government is set to introduce a new law in April 2025 that will require couples to provide a six-month notice before marriage, according to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The claim comes a day after Sarma announced that Soren would officially join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on August 30.
