Panic spread at a school in Hardoi on Thursday morning after a suspected gas leak left 16 students ill, several of whom collapsed or complained of coughing and vomiting.
The industrial mishap of this nature took place while the employees were working at the blast furnace site. Due to a suspected gas leak, the employees developed symptoms of dizziness and nausea after they came in contact with toxic gaseous substances, said an RSP official.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured from the Prime Ministers National Relief Fund (PMNRF) in the Ludhiana gas leak accident.
NDRF teams have been rushed to the factory and a team of doctors and a fire brigade also reached the spot.
