The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Malayalam actor Jayaram for questioning in connection with the Sabarimala gold theft case.
In response to rising reports of fake summons being circulated in the name of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for cheating and extortion, the ED has implemented new measures to help citizens verify the authenticity of summons notices, the Finance Ministry’s official account announced today.
The ED's summons follow the registration of an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) against 29 actors and influencers under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
He further stated that there is nothing in the case, adding whenever he speaks about joining politics, they (BJP) bring up old issues to divert the attention from real issues.
However, the AAP informed that its convenor would take part in a protest outside BJP headquarters in Delhi against the alleged foul play in Chandigarh mayoral polls on Friday, the day he is supposed to appear before the probe agency.
Sources said the chief minister refused to appear in person before the ED as he found the latest summons "arbitrary, mala fide, and illegal".
